“Happy English Course”

GENERAL COURSE INFORMATION
Happy English Course has been designed for student’s vocational high school that is interest to work in the tourism industries after graduated in vocational high school. It teaches the basic communication skills needed to communicate in a variety of different work situations in tourism industries. This course will allow students to function effectively in English. Special emphasis is placed on the relevant speaking, vocabulary, and grammatical structures that are used in the field of tourism, and the learner is given the opportunity to practice using the language that in demonstration, simulation, practice dialogue in group and communicative practice activities with native speaker. Course books will be supplemented with material from other sources, including newspaper articles and video materials. After finish this course the student will get certificate that has accreditation by some tourism industries.

2. Syllabus Objective
·         Students are able to practice some conversation to explain the tourism in some places.
·         Students are able to give a brief description about tourism places

3. Instructional Objectives
·         The students will be able to describe the specific tourism place in a certain location.
·         The students will be able to persuade the tourists to come to the tourism place well.
·         The Students will be able to give a brief description about tourism place well
·         The Students will be able to use vocabulary or expressions in tourism

4. Materials
Ø  A short conversation:
Students     : Good afternoon Sir/Madam.
Tourist        : Good afternoon.
Students     : What can I get for you?
Tourist        : I need some information about the tourism places in this area because it    is first time I visit Lombok. Can you tell me the place?
Student       : Yes, with pleasure. First, you can visit Kuta beach. It is a wonderful beach; it is located in the central of Lombok and very closed with international airport of Lombok. There, you can see wonderful scenery, swimming, canoeing, diving or even surfing and you can visit traditional handicraft of Lombok.
Tourist        : How go there?
Student       : You can drive there by your own car or by bus. If you go there by car you will take 1, 5 hours, but if you go by bus it takes more.
Tourist        : Oh thank you.
Student       : You’re welcome.

·         The teacher gives change to the student to ask what are they not understand.

·      Student fined the information on the handout about the tourism places

·      Students give the example of tourism places, “there is a beautiful places at… that can be visited as the tourism place.
·      Students asking to the teacher about what are they not understand related to the topic
Closing :
·         The teacher give student the homework to find the other information and location of tourism area

·      The students write the homework what are teacher give




Meeting 2

Opening:
·         Greeting to learners
·         Warming up using the material taught before

·      Students answer the greeting
·      Students try to remained what material they get before
Main Activity:
·         Teacher cheek the homework by ask the students to describe the place where the tourist can visit


·         Teacher order the students give direction to the tourism place one by one correctly


·      Students describe the place where the tourist can visit carefully

·      Students give direction to the tourism place correctly.
“You can go there by bus or by train, if you go there by car, it takes for about ….. Hours. But if you go there by bus, you may take longer”.

·         Teacher order the students to conclude what they have study

·         Warming up using the material taught before

·      Students try to remained what material they get before
Main Activity:
·         Teacher order students to find out the couple.
·         Teacher gives the students the example of conversation.

·         Teacher order the student to practice the conversation in front of the class

·      Students find out their couple

·      Students try to understand the conversation before they practice.

·      Students come to front of the class to practice the conversation with his couple.  
Closing:
·         Teacher correct the students pronunciation

·      The student corrects their error on pronunciation.
